MAIN ANCHOR, CBS13/KOVR (Sacramento, CA) — 2006-2011

Provided newsroom leadership – identifying hot-button issues and generating branded message for target demographics, as well as provided analysis of news content and copy.  Successfully grew viewership after station launched fresh news product and team.

Actively built relationships with community leaders through personal networking, and led the station’s initiative to grow an online social network via Facebook and Twitter.

Emceed charity events (including United Cerebral Palsy, The American Cancer Society, The Ronald McDonald House, The American Heart Association) and frequent public speaker at Rotary meetings,  Chamber of Commerce events and in area schools – successfully raising money for nonprofit causes and connecting the station with its community and viewership.



Successfully created the station’s highest-grossing sponsored franchise “Parent to Parent”.  Created popular monthly column based on franchise in Detroit area’s MetroParent magazine.

Won two Emmy Awards for ½ hour documentary and feature report.  Received an Emmy Award nomination after breaking a national story.  Won Michigan Association of Broadcasters award for 1/2 hour special.  Recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Crime Prevention Association of Michigan for ‘Parent 2 Parent’ reports.


MAIN ANCHOR/REPORTER, UPN50/WKBD (Detroit, MI)— 2002-2003

Successfully launched a new 10pm news product and team that grew 30% in its target demographics in just nine months.  Consistently advised management on creating a branded news product. Produced and presented daily health reports and a series of special projects on Arab/Israeli issues in Metro Detroit.  Built active network with community leaders and acted as host/presenter for telethons as well as professional, charity and community organizations.



Successfully trained auto company executives to field media questions during product launches and during crises: taught company spokespeople how to use talking points and tested how well they stayed on point and on message.  Produced training videos for Kmart Corporation (headquartered in the Detroit area) which required learning corporate selling strategy and training employees to voice-over and present content for broadcast.


MAIN ANCHOR, WPBN/WTOM (Traverse City, MI) – 1996-1999

Launched and helped grow a Civic Journalism initiative that increased station recognition and recruited viewership.  Led unique not-for-broadcast town hall meetings that improved the station’s community relations and helped generate new news content and audiences.  Won “Best News Broadcast”Award from Michigan Association of Broadcasters
